Esquel
The city of Esquel is located in the northwest of the province of Chubut, to 620 kilometers of the city of Rawson, capital of that province and to 2000 kilometers of Buenos Aires. Surrounded by mountains by up to 2000 meters of height, it is the most important city of the zone of cordillera of Chubut, counts approximately on a population of 32,000 inhabitants.

National Park the Larches

The National Park the Larches is to about 50 km of Esquel and includes 2,630 an approximated surface of km2, contains thirteen lakes (Futalaufquen, Green, Menendez, Rivadavia...), mountains of 2500 ms of height, its main attractiveness are the larches, trees, also called "lahuan" that in language of the town mapuche means grandfathers, have an age who oscillate between the 2,000 and 3,000 years of antiquity, which testifies the prehistoric origin of the species.

The Trochita
The Trochita |
The Trochita or the Old Patagonico Express, is attractive tourist a world-wide one. It runs on a trail of 75 cm wide and connects the localities Esquel - Nahuel Bread - Maiten, about 36 km. The Trochita is impelled by locomotives Baldwin (Belgian) and Hanschel (German) that work with oil fuel. The wagons are of wood and date from 1922 and it was inaugurated in 1945.
