Valdes Peninsula

The Valdes peninsula was declared Natural Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO in 1999.
The Valdes peninsula is a coastal accident on the Argentine Sea, is united to the continent by the isthmus Carlos Ameghino, from the isthmus the gulfs San Jose and Nuevo can be observed.

In the Valdes peninsula species are lodged animals like the marine elephant of a single hair, marine wolves surrounded by their harems, pingüin of Magallanes, American ostrich, gray foxes, guanacos, cormoranes and gulls.

It is one of the more important tourist destinies of Argentina and is visited annually by thousands of visitors of the country and the outside.

The avistaje of the austral frank whale is made in the coasts of the New gulf, where are reunen annually for the mating and childbirth. Due to the policies of protection implemented by diverse organisms of the zone, the population of austral frank whale is in slow recovery. The season of avistaje of whales is made from May to December, the sighting of whales is one of the more important tourist activities of the country.
