The National Park Nahuel Huapi was created in 1934 from the earth donation carried out by the Expert Francisco Pascasio Moreno the 6 of November of 1903, that constitutes the nucleus of the park.

One is located in the southwest of the Province of Neuquén and the northwest of the Province of Rio Negro and includes a surface of 705,000 hectares.

It has landscape and ecological value, and protects an extensive area representative for the Andean region of northern Patagonia. Its vegetation consists mainly of trees as lengas, ñires and coihues; native plants such as notro, Mutisia, la Virreina and Amancay

The fauna of the region is the main Huillín copies, which is endangered mammal, the huemul, an endangered deer, foxes and mountain lions.
