The Calafate

The Calafate is on the foot of the Calafate hill and to borders of the Argentine Lake. It is acceded from River Galician, Capital of the Province of Santa Cruz, by means of 324 km of paved route. Account with a population of 4,000 inhabitants approximately.

The Calafate is the front door to the National Park the Glaciers, where is the Perito Moreno Glacier.

Lake Argentino

With a 1560 surface km2, the Argentine Lake is the greater one of the Argentine Republic and third in South America, it is to 185 ms on the level of the sea, it has a length is of 60 km and a wide one between 14 and 20 km.

The National Park the Glaciers was created in 1937, is to the southwest of the province of Santa Cruz. km2 has 6,000 of which 1,540 km2 belong to the Sector of National Reserve, with 365 glaciers, of which 13 are the more important ones.

In 1981 was declared Natural Patrimony by UNESCO World-wide, with the objective to preserve and to transmit to the presents and future generations all its patrimony.
